This program will provide information about how the Polyvagal Theory can guide the 8 phase EMDR protocol. Information about the polyvagal theory, arousal model, autonomic nervous system, and shame will be provided. Participants will obtain information through lecture and videos.

About the event

Learning Objectives

1. Participants will be able to verbalize an understanding of Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory.

2. Participants will be able to apply the Polyvagal Theory to the 8 phases of EMDR.

3. Participants will understand the importance of the awareness of the arousal model and autonomic system while using the 8 phase EMDR protocol.

4. Participants will be able to identify the role of emotions, including shame, and apply this information to the Polyvagal Theory and the 8 phase EMDR protocol.
