Presenters:

Jenny Prohaska, PhD, Police and Forensic Psychologist
Early Intervention with Law Enforcement Officers is important to prevent PTSD from becoming a cumulative trauma. With this population, understanding the culture and core belief system of First Responders is also vital to successful treatment.
Presentations will include:
1. Captain Jeff Bragg with the Olathe Police Department regarding police culture
2. Jenny Prohaska, PhD, Police and Forensic Psychologist, providing a clinical perspective of what works and what doesn't when counseling first responders of all types
3. Sue Thompson, EMDRIA approved trainer and consultant, presenting the Recent Events Protocol with Roger Solomon’s Police Protocol, which will assist local therapists in helping LEO's recover and learn from their experiences in an effort to move forward in their careers.
Learning Objectives:
1. Become familiar with the culture of first responders
2. Distinguish between PTSD/ PTSI and cumulative stress/ERES
3. Identify how department betrayal impacts first responders and PTSD
4. Recall the Four Common Clinical Disorders in First Responders
5. List Common Core Beliefs for First Responders
6. Incorporate skill-based Interventions for Containment (to do or not to do)
7. Contrast therapeutic differences in Cops vs. FF vs. Paramedics vs. Dispatchers
8. Explain the Recent Events – Roger Solomon’s Police Protocol
9. Practice the Recent Events Protocol in triads

Workshop Handouts will be emailed to paid registrants prior to the meeting. On-site printing and copying will not be available.
Pending approval for 9.5 EMDRIA Credits. Eligibility for EMDRIA Credits is restricted to those who have completed an EMDRIA-Approved Basic EMDR Training. Attendees who are partially trained in EMDR are not eligible to receive EMDRIA Credits.
Full/Basic EMDR Training Required: This program is open to clinicians who have completed Full EMDR Training (formerly known as Basic Training – completed Part 1 and Part 2 trainings, plus 10 hours of consultation). This workshop is not an EMDR basic training.
Cancellation Policy
Your registration fee less a $5 processing fee will be refunded to you if requested by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019. Refund requests are to be made by sending an email to emdrgkc@gmail.com. No refund will be made if your cancellation is received after 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019.
